Curriculum 2014: Assessment without Levels in PE - London – Call 01283 568440 to run this INSET in your School
Session 1: Changing the Goalposts. Many teachers will not remember a time when levels and sub-levels were not used to monitor learners' attainment and progress. What exactly are the current requirements and what implications do these have back in school? What is the justification behind the scrapping of levels?
Session 2: Flipping the Picture. Using assessment to improve learning rather than prove learning. Applying current research to inform assessment. Identifying a simple step-by-step process to ensure assessment enables pupils to progress to and exceed end of key stage 'floor targets'.
Session 3: Demonstrating Progress. Identifying practical steps that can be put in place to demonstrate learning and progress which fulfil Ofsted expectations. Time effective methods of keeping records and profiles. How to use information collected to support reporting
This training course is aimed at all primary and secondary teachers involved in teaching and assessing PE. It addresses the key issues around assessment without levels and offers practical strategies to employ in school. The ideas and strategies in this course reflect the work of afPE, the organisation leading curriculum and assessment changes on behalf of the DfE.. This day of CPD can also be run as an INSET in your school.
