Essential Skills for Non-Teaching Professionals – Call 020 8368 5832 to run this INSET in your School
Session 1: Where do we fit? The vital role that you play in schools and other educational settings. For non-teaching staff, no two days are ever the same. The roles are challenging, varied and crucial to the smooth running of the organisation. We will look at the impact of your work, the unique skill-sets that you bring, how to harness the skill-sets on your team and how you fit into the organisational structure of your setting.
Session 2: Who am I and who are you? People and communication. Non-teaching professionals as the first line of defence with tricky parents, anxious children and teachers under pressure. How understanding your own personality type and that of others can lead to more effective communication, minimise conflict and ensure greater ‘flow’ in your day-to-day work.
Session 3: Strategies to take back. How to deal effectively as a non-teaching professional with problems that arise along the way. These may involve the appraisal, coaching and mentoring of staff, dealing with under-performance, having difficult conversations and supporting the Senior Leadership Team in capability processes.
In most schools non-teaching support staff outnumber teachers, and yet opportunities for professional development designed specifically for them are rare and rarer still the opportunity to share ideas and good practice. This training course is planned entirely around the CPD needs of non-teaching professionals and is ideally suited for all established or recently appointed non-teaching staff who lead or are part of a team, or those who aspire to management. Bursars, School Secretaries, Administrators, Site Managers, Marketing Departments and those who wish to develop their leadership and management skills will find this an essential course. The day is all about helping you develop and will give you practical, down to earth strategies to take some of the pressure out of your everyday work. This CPD course can also be run as an INSET at your school.
