Session 1: What’s new at KS3? A look at what students have learnt in KS1 & KS2 and how three years’ targeted teaching at KS3 can prepare students to make high levels of progress by GCSE. The requirements of new national curriculum will be explored.
Session 2: Planning and assessment. This session will look at ways of structuring KS3 schemes of work from a traditional topic based framework to teaching in themes. It will also focus on types of assessment and how to replace the national curriculum level descriptors and develop your own approaches.
Session 3: Theory into practice. This session will explore a wide range of resources and approaches to planning lessons that will inspire students and ensure rapid progress in Geography at KS3.
This day of CPD is essential for all teachers of KS3 Geography who are keen to learn how to implement the new National Curriculum for Geography and ensure that their students make rapid progress as well as being effecively prepared for transition to KS4. You will look at ways to create an engaging and motivational learning environment that will support all pupils in attaining outstanding levels of learning. This training course can also be run as an INSET in your school.
